멀리서 화면을 대할 때 첫인상은 액션 페인팅이나 추상표현주의 양식을 떠올리게 하지만 좀 더 다가서 보면 물감의 두께와 붓질에서 느껴지는 무게감이 이런 피상적인 인식을 깨트린다. 주재료인 부식된 쇳가루는 붉은빛이 난다. 녹슬기 전에는 검은빛을 내다가 시간과의 싸움에서 결국 산화되어 검붉은색으로 화하게 되는 쇳가루다. 작가는 제작과정에서 작품의 핵심적인 소재이자 바로 주제이기도 한 이 철 재료에 관한 많은 사유를 하고 그다음 행위나 실천이 뒤따라 수행된다. 재료의 성질과 변화 그리고 예술적 의미가 압도해서 캔버스 표면에 드러나는 행위를 보고 양식적으로 유형화하는 것이 적절하지 않음을 깨닫게 된다. 작가는 작품설명을 “생겨나(生) 머물다(住) 변해서(異) 소멸(滅)한다.”라는 이 한 줄로 요약하고 만다.

If looking at the screen from a distance, the first impression of the work is reminiscent of action painting or abstract expressionism style. However, when look a little closer, the thickness of the paint and the weight released from the brush strokes shatter that superficial perception. The main material, corroded iron powder, has a red color. It is iron powder that glows black before rusting, but eventually oxidizes and turns dark red in a race against time. During the production process, the artist grapples a lot about the iron material, which is the core material and subject of the work, and then actions or practices are followed. The properties and changes of the materials and the artistic meaning are so overwhelming to notice that it is not appropriate to classify them stylistically when we see the actions revealed on the surface of the canvas. According to the artist : “It comes into being, stays, changes, and then dies.”​​
