작가는 한국에서 조경학을 전공하고 프랑스에 가서 조형예술을 전공했다. 현재는 파리에서 작품활동을 하고 있다. 조경에도 관심이 많은 작가가 평면기하학 스타일의 프랑스 정원 양식에서 가장 인상적으로 보았던 것이 토피어리(전지를 해서 모양을 낸 나무)이었다. 바로 거기서 착안한 나무 모양과 역사적인 바빌론의 공중정원 개념을 결합해서 ‘공중에 매단 나무’를 상상하게 되었다.

작품은 가는 철사를 재료로 뜨개질하듯 손으로 한 땀 한 땀 만들어낸다. 2미터 높이의 원뿔 5개와 그 안쪽에 넣어서 비쳐 보이는 나무의 가지, 사람의 형상, 추상체들 등으로 구성되는데 얇은 재료를 통해 겹쳐 보이는 효과를 잘 살렸다. 바람에 흔들리고 햇살에는 반짝이며 빗방울을 머금기도 해 휴식을 주는 시 같은 정원에 비유된다.

또 한 작품 〈마음의 양약(The cure)〉은 같은 재료와 기법으로 만든 여러 개의 항아리 모양들로 구성된다. 내부에는 금색의 작은 상자가 들어 있어 빛에 반짝인다. 보약이 담겼던 통을 상징했는데 잠언의 글귀를 넣어 두기도 한다.

The artist majored in landscape architecture in Korea and then went to France majored in formative arts. The artist is currently residing in Paris. The artist's interest in landscaping, found topiary (a tree shaped by pruning) to be the most impressive aspect of the planar geometry style of French gardens. Combining the tree shape inspired from that point with the concept of the historic hanging gardens of Babylon, the artist came to imagine a ‘tree suspended in the air.’

The work is done by weaving metal strings. The work consists of five 2-meter-tall cones made by hand, and tree branches, human figures, and abstract objects placed inside them, and the effect of overlapping is well utilized through thin metal materials. It is likened to a poetic garden that sways in the wind, sparkles in the sunlight, and even catches raindrops, interweaving poetic code.

Another work, “The Cure,” consists of several jar shapes made with the same materials and techniques. Inside is a small gold box that sparkles in the light. It symbolizes a container filled with healing medicine, and the words of Proverbs.
