그런데 작가는 이 대상들에게 좀 다른 이유로 시선을 주고 있다. 그것들의 운명에서 어딘가 현대인들의 삶의 태도와 닮은 데를 발견했기 때문이란다. 버려져 관심을 잃은 페트병의 운명을 통해 환경은 물론 현대인의 어리석은 자화상을 본 것이었다.

조각가의 손에 의해 새롭게 조형화된 구겨지고 비틀어진 형태는 흉해야 할 텐데 기념비적 조각으로 재탄생되어 있다. 재료와 크기를 달리하고 맥락이 다른 공간과 장소에 놓여 질 때 대상 본래의 가치와 의미는 사라지고 의외의 반전이 일어난다. 마치 지난 상처의 쓰라린 기억을 딛고 우뚝 선 인물들처럼 새로운 미학적 관점으로 바라볼 대상으로 화했다.

The artist gives heed to plastic bottles that were produced for the convenience and necessity of human life, but were then crumpled and discarded after they had exhausted their usefulness. The reason we are paying attention to waste that we no longer need to worry about is probably because of our sense of duty to practice recycling for the preservation of the natural environment and circulation of resources.

However, the artist is looking at these subjects for a slightly different reason. This is because their fate somehow resembles the lifestyle of modern people. Through the fate of plastic bottles that were abandoned and lost interest, The work highlight not only the environment but also a foolish self-portrait of modern people.

The crumpled and twisted form newly sculpted by the sculptor's hand seemingly not aesthetic, but it has been reborn as a monumental sculpture. When the material and size are different and the object is placed in a different space and place with a different context, the original value and meaning of the object disappears and an unexpected twist occurs. Like characters who have overcome the bitter memories of past wounds and stood tall, they have been transformed into objects to be looked at from a new aesthetic perspective.
