동시대 젊은 미술가들은 대개 오브제를 활용하고 설치미술의 형식을 취한다. 명확하게 재현적이지도 않고 즉물적인 사물들로써 은유적으로 설명하는가 싶은데 결코 단순한 상징주의는 아니다. 의미나 맥락이 너무 주관적인듯해 쉽게 파악하기 어려운데 이것은 그들의 언어와 문법이 이미 기성세대와 거리를 지고 있다는 뜻일 것이다. 그래서 작품에 접근하는 시각과 방식을 달리할 필요가 있다.
서양화를 전공한 정지윤 작가의 설치미술에서 동시대 젊은 작가의 정체성과 예술적 방법의 특징을 엿보게 된다. 예를 들면 흙이나 식물, 이끼와 같은 자연 재료와 인공물들을 가지고 3차원화한 그리드의 공간 안에 배치함으로써 자신들을 둘러싸고 있는 물리적 환경과 그 속에서 일상적으로 겪고 있는 정서적 심리적 상황에 관해 이야기한다. 예리한 감수성과 그들의 첨예한 예술 언어들이 느껴진다.

Young contemporary artists commonly use objects and create installation art out of it. Although it is not clearly representational and seems to be explained metaphorically using real objects, it is by no means simple symbolism. At times meaning and context seem so subjective to understand, but this new way of expression is naturally distant from the former generation. Therefore, it is necessary to change the perspective and method of approaching the work.

In the installation art of Jeong Ji-yoon, who majored in Western painting, viewers can get a glimpse of the identity and characteristics of the artistic method of a young contemporary artist. For example, by placing natural materials and artifacts such as soil, plants, and moss in a three-dimensional grid space, the artist talks about the physical environment surrounding them and the emotional and psychological situations experienced on a daily basis. Viewers can feel its keen sensitivity and sharp artistic language in work.
