작가는 프랑스 중부 오베르뉴 화산지대와 가까운 도시 우셀에서 태어나 현재는 파리에서 주로 활동하고 있다. 4대에 걸친 석공과 조각가 집안 출신의 시각 예술가로서 볼륨(입체 조각)과의 관계가 작가의 기억 속에 깊이 뿌리내리고 있다.

‘동물의 몸과 붙어 있는 자화상’을 통해 인간과 동물의 관계를 유머와 감성으로 탐구한다. 이런 스타일의 구성은 그의 예술적 접근 방식에서 반복되는 주제이며, 인류세(인간의 활동이 지구 환경을 바꾸는 지질 시대) 개념과도 깊은 관련이 있다. 이번 작품은 고전적인 사실주의 기법으로 재현한 거대한 코끼리의 코를 마스크처럼 쓰고 있는 자화상인데 다른 어느 동물 조각에서도 예를 찾아볼 수 없는 독창성이 있다. 미스터리한 은유와 상징은 풍부한 의미로 해석될 여지가 있다.​

The artist is born in Houssel, a city close to the Auvergne volcanic region in central France, and currently lives in Paris. As a visual artist from a four-generation family of masons and sculptors, the relationship with volume (three-dimensional sculpture) is deeply rooted in the artist's memory. Through 'Self-portrait attached to the body of an animal', the relationship between humans and animals is expressed with his wit. The artist compose disparate elements together do justice to the concept of the Anthropocene (the geological epoch in which human activity is altering the Earth's environment). The work is a self-portrait wearing a huge elephant's trunk as a mask, reproduced using classical realism techniques.​
