​〈하늘 놀이〉는 작가가 작업실을 팔공산 쪽으로 옮긴 뒤부터 삶의 주변에서 쉽게 만날 수 있는

나뭇가지로 하늘을 나는 새의 이미지를 조각하면서부터 시작된 작품 주제이다. 한때는 주로 석조나 철조를 취급했던 작가가 나뭇가지에서 발견한 새의 모티프를 가지고 작은 바람 소리에도 움직이는 지금의 조각으로 전환했었다.

“다석 유영모 선생께서는 자신의 생명과 업적, 이 모든 것을 불살라버리고 하늘로 솟아오를 때 ‘맘대로 절로 참 자유함을 얻는다’고 하였습니다. 이처럼 저는 텅 빈 마음으로 호작질하며 천천히 여기까지 왔습니다.”

〈Sky Play〉 is the theme of the artist's work, which began after he moved his studio to Palgongsan Mountain and began carving images of birds flying in the sky using tree branches that can be easily found around his life. The artist, who at one time mainly worked with stone or iron, took a motif of a bird found on a tree branch and converted it into his current sculpture, which moves at the slightest sound of wind.

According to Ryu Young Mo, “when one ignite passion for life, and not tied up by achievements, freedom is followed and let one soar high.’ Just as quote, the artist worked with a light heart and reached to recent work step by step.
